This week, B.U. had a snow day, which gave me a chance to work on one of this week’s assignments: a data visualization.
I learned a lot about data journalism last summer when I staffed B.U.’s Storytelling with Data workshop. That’s also where I downloaded a a student copy of Tableau, a data visualization software. I used it to make the chart below. While the end result is clean and pretty, I don’t find Tableau to be super user-friendly. I had to move some of the elements around in good old Microsoft Paint to get the layout I wanted.
This chart is based off some practice data, i.e. not real data, about a city budget. (I hope you enjoy the calming color palette.)
